Preparing for a Paranormal Investigation

Conducting a paranormal investigation consists of many different steps. It’s not just setting up some cameras and conducting EVP sessions. Before going on the investigation there are some proper preparations you need to do.  Here are some tips to guide you on your way to having a successful ghost hunt.

There are things that need to be done leading up to an investigation.

  1. Get Permission!

Always get permission for where you are going. If you choose to investigate a cemetery, call the proper people, including police, to avoid getting fines.

  1. Know who and how many will make up your team.

It’s important to know how many people will make up your team because you need to tell the owners of the property how many of you will be on the premises. Also, arranging rides and having teams while on the investigation will be easier to arrange.

  1. Conduct an interview.

Interview people! If you’re doing a residential home or business for someone, don’t automatically say yes. Conduct an interview and make sure they aren’t on their way to the loony bin or need medication.  Take a tour of the location.

After you’ve gone through the proper precautions and know that the location is worth investigating, ask to get a tour of the place. Have them show you where the most paranormal activity happens. Have an idea where you want to set up cameras and send groups on the investigation

  1. Research the location.

Find out all you can about the location. Learn about the history of owners, events, and anything important. Try to have an idea of people’s personal experiences and learn about any tragic history to the area.

  1. Set a date.

After you’ve done all your prepping, contact the owner of the location and set a date that’s convenient for you and them.

  1. Prep and check your gear

You want to be sure that before you go on an investigation all your equipment is functioning correctly. You’ll want to start charging any batteries the day before and make you bring extras. You never know when a spirit can decide to drain your batteries.

Preparing is just as important as conducting the investigation itself. These few guidelines will help you on your way to having a successful investigation. If you put the effort in, your experience will be great. Always remember to be safe and only go where you have permission.
